The Maharashtra government has cleared two big initiatives – one to strengthen the state’s creative industries and another to expand renewable energy.
Both moves highlight the state’s goal of becoming a leader in digital content and clean power.
Animation & AVGC-XR Policy 2025
The Cabinet, led by CM Devendra Fadnavis, has approved the Animation, VFX, Gaming, Comics & XR (AVGC-XR) Policy 2025 with a budget of ₹3,268 crore.
The plan focuses on making permissions easier, speeding up clearances, and offering strong incentives for investors and creators.
Two major projects will support this vision:
- Revamping the 500-acre Film City into a world-class studio space.
- Developing a 120-acre media and entertainment hub for animation, gaming, and VFX.
The policy runs through 2050 and is expected to create thousands of jobs while positioning Maharashtra as a global content hub.
Renewable Energy Projects
Alongside the creative push, the Cabinet approved a joint venture between MahaGenco and Sutlej Jalvidyut Nigam Ltd to set up 5,000 MW of renewable energy.
This includes solar, wind, and hybrid projects, supporting the state’s long-term green energy targets.
To help investors, the government is also simplifying approvals and offering financial incentives.
Conclusion
With these two major decisions, Maharashtra is betting big on the future – strengthening its creative economy while powering growth through clean energy.
Together, they reflect a vision of a culturally vibrant and environmentally responsible state.
